Political Correctness

Christmas has once again come and gone yet I can't help but to replay the numerous radio interviews in my head of Atheist demanding Nativity Scenes be removed from government property. While I understand the separation of church and state, a simple display is not the government telling you that YOU must have a Nativity Scene displayed or that you even have to believe in God or Jesus. Just as the brand of windows used in their building are not an endorsement for that particular brand of windows or anything else on the property. However for some reason there are people out there who feel that a Nativity Scene is forcing religious beliefs onto them. Therefore we must respect their belief and have the display removed, I don't get it. I consider myself more spiritual than religious. I am considered agnostic and personally believe that there is no right or wrong religion. Whatever works for you is fine with me, even if you're an atheist. Yet I do find it a bit odd that Christians are often forced to acquiesce to the thoughts and feelings of others. So much so that even saying "Merry Christmas" is frowned upon. It is more politically correct to say "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings". Personally, I take it as a kind pleasantry for anyone who says "Merry Christmas" to me just as I do if anyone says Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or any other form of greeting. So for those who feel that Nativity Scenes should be removed and everyone else must respect their non-belief, why not take it for what it is, a symbol of goodwill to all. If someone says "Merry Christmas" they are not forcing their religion on you, they are simply being kind. You're not required to return the pleasantry, you can simply smile and say "Thank you".

Where To Begin...

I have contemplated writing a blog for a while now and after years of listening to my own crazy thoughts I thought that I would finally write them down. I am a 40 something guy who wishes he had life to do over. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same but for those who don't, consider yourselves lucky. While there have been some great moments in my life, there have been also some not so great moments. This blog is my way of just getting out whatever crazy thoughts that are running through my head. It's a much better way of getting things off my chest. At least that's what the voices tell me. So, if you are one of the two people reading this, check back to see what random topic I am writing about.
